As a little girl, I had hot pink carpet — bold, unapologetic, entirely my own. Somewhere along the way, I grew up and traded it in for something more sensible. This painting is the moment I stopped being sensible about it. The folk patterns, the butterflies, the blooms — all of it reaches toward joy, toward softness, toward the girl I once was and the woman I am still becoming. It was my husband's love — steady, generous, and unwavering — that made space for that return. He saw the pink in me before I remembered it was there, and this painting exists, in part, because of that.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is also a painting about connection — to my parents, to the love that shaped me, to the roots that hold me even when I forget they are there.
